Consta de un paño de proporción vexilológica aproximada 2:3; esto es, cuadrado y medio de longitud, dividido en tres franjas horizontales de igual tamaño: verde (superior), amarillo (central) y naranja (inferior). Complementan el diseño la fachada terciada de la “Casa la Blanquera” al centro de la franja amarilla y el Escudo de Armas del Municipio, al cantón sobre la franja verde. El verde simboliza el renacer de una esperanza; el amarillo recuerda la riqueza de las tierras y ríos del Municipio y el  naranja alude al atardecer de la región llanera en la que se ubica. La Casa la Blanquera, monumento histórico local y el Escudo reafirman la identidad municipal.

Fue diseñada por la Profesora Jenny Moreno de Duran, instituida por Decreto del Alcalde Nº 008-94 y declarada oficialmente Bandera Oficial del Municipio mediante el Decreto Nº 029 de fecha 08 de Diciembre de 1994.

It consists in a field with approximated ratio 2:3; this is, square and half of length, divided in three horizontal stripes with equal size: green (superior), yellow (central) and orange (inferior). Complements the design the diagonally placed facade of “Casa La Blanquera” something like “The White Place’s House”) on the center of yellow stripe and the Municipality’ Coat of Arms to the canton on the green stripe. The green stripe symbolizes the reborn of a hope; the yellow one remembers the wealth of earth and rivers of the Municipality and the orange stripe alludes to the dusk of the plains region in which it’s located. The Blanquera House, local historical monument and the Coat of Arms reaffirms the municipal identity.

It was designed by Professor Jenny Moreno de Durán, instituted by Mayor’s Decree Nº 008-94 and declared Official Flag of the Municipality by means of the Decree Nº 029 on December 8th, 1994.
